Lea Tate

Campaign Manager

Dr. Lea Tate was raised in Anderson, California. She graduated from Shasta High School in 1993. She excelled in student leadership and participated in track, swimming and tennis. Upon graduation, she attended University of California, Berkeley where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and has an emphasis in Military Affairs. She attended the California School of Professional Psychology, Fresno where she received her Master of Arts in Psychology and received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2001. Dr. Tate worked at Kaiser Permanente, Fremont as a clinical psychologist for 7 years. She moved back to the Redding area in 2008 after accepting a position at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Tate also works as the Associate Administrator at Patients’ Hospital of Redding. In addition, she works in private practice specializing in infant and child psychological testing for the State of California. Since returning to Redding, Dr. Tate served as the Chairwoman for the City Charter Committee for the City of Redding and received the Shasta High School Distinguished Alumni award.

She lives in Redding with her husband, Matt (also from Redding) and their two young daughters, Kennedy and Kenzey.

Dr. Tate’s areas of expertise are crisis intervention, multi-cultural populations, individual, family and group therapy with all mentally ill populations. One of Dr. Tate’s proudest accomplishments is being deployed as a first responder for the American Red Cross to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Dr. Tate spent almost 2 months there providing round-the-clock mental health services and supervised the State of Mississippi mental health teams.

Dr. Tate likes to travel and has been throughout Africa including Egypt, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa. She has spent time in Paris studying French and art. She has also traveled to Switzerland, Germany, Brazil and China. Since a young child, Dr. Tate has spent extensive time in the Caribbean.
